The media in this country has been providing infotainment since I can remember. I'm 28, not a milestone, but still quite number of years of this nonsense. I decided long ago to accept that this will not change and take the responsibility of informing myself. Americans are not going to get any vital information from typical news programs, you cannot rely on reporters to feed you because they won't. The only way to change the norm is to accept it and stop the demand. There are a lot of alternative news sources available, people just have to be willing to find them. The problem is that too many people are afraid of independent thought and straying from the herd, period.

Thanks! I'm in Austin, TX and the news here is a joke just like everywhere else. We do have Alex Jones, though. He can come off as a tad abrasive, but he's a fountain of reliable information.
