Google Gaga

Posted in Podcasts on September 26th, 2006

No, not baby talk, just our favorite search engine. Barb and Susie talk about the phenom called Google and have fun with Google Labs products such as Google Trend Lab. Compare ideas, people, words - you name it - and see it all on a fun graph complete with highlights and news coverage. Competitors are gunning for google, and the battle is just heating up. How do you search? Leave a comment at popgoestheculture.com.

Hi Ladies, Where do I begin. First, Yahoo sells search placement on
their site. Usually the first 4 to 5 results are from companies who
paid to be there. Second, Google penalties their adword affiliates
when click fraud occurs not the individuals who are doing the
clicking. The guys at “Top of the Pods” where kicked out of the
program and their earnings withheld after an over zealous fan clicked
their ads hundreds of times. Keep up the show! I always enjoy
listening to you two. Charles of mostlynews.net

I’m with Charles and Suzie on this one…I never click on banner ads, google ads, popup windows…any ads. In fact these days I don’t even see them really…my brain must be trained to see white space where the ads appear. I really don’t like ads that much.
But I do love google…I recently switched to using a personalised google home page …it has my gmail account, all my bookmarks, my google news reader and a dozen google gadgets (mostly useful plus a
couple of silly ones like games). I truly love it. All the internet things I want in one spot accessible to me at any computer I ever sit at anywhere in the world. And all for free. Life is sweet. Thanks for the great show as always. Bernadette • 9/29/06; 6:39:21 P
