Ebay - The Cultural Implications

Posted in Podcasts on June 21st, 2005

Where once our cultural detritus stayed in pretty much one place,
with Ebay, material goods are in constant circulation around the
globe, creating one global material culture. Ebay has created the
biggest Mom and Pop store in the world, and developed the most
perfect retail business model ever, with a system of checks and
balances that keep both buyers and sellers happy and coming back for
more. Now that’s service. Add that key ingredient of entertainment
and it can’t be beat. Beware to bricks and mortar retailers - it’s a
tough act to follow.
