There’s nothing like a good book! Susie likes old travelogues for
their astonishing understatement of disastrous events; Last Voyage
and My Hike are her picks. Barb is inspired by graphic novels and
children’s books that tell non-fiction stories in a new way. The
Librarian of Basra is heart-breaking and beautiful, and Persepolis
tells an Iranian woman’s coming-of-age story. She adds David Sedaris
and Sarah Vowell for humor. Listen in!

Fantasy Press Conference with President Bush
by Susie Watson on April 12th, 2005
While Susie is out of town, her husband Henry Godbout sits in with
Barb to discuss politics in a fantasy press conference with President
Bush. Dubya was not allowed to leave for his latest vacation in
Crawford, Texas until he answered each and every unscripted question.
Our politicos challenge the President on such topics as the ethics of
using a religious platform for political gain, to whether he would
have gone to war with Iraq if he had to staff the front line with his
own children. Listen in to hear what unfolds during this rapid fire
question and answer blitz.
TV - The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly
by Susie Watson on April 5th, 2005
How can so many channels put out so much crap? Barb and I riff on our
favorites and our guilty pleasures, as well as the TV we love to
hate. You have to comment on this one - it is so easy! After you
check out our picks, let us know what you think!
Producer’s note: something happened during the recording of the show
that caused excessive static throughout. Thanks to the great filters
in Audacity, I was able to salvage the show. The sound quality is not
that great but this show is so good you won’t want to miss it. If you
could compare the original with what I ended up with you’d say I did
a damn fine job. So if you can just make it through the first few
minutes, you’ll get used to it and you’ll be hypnotized by the banter
of Barb & Susie in no time. GL
