AI (Artificial Intelligence) Chatterbots - Not Ready for Their Close-up

by Susie Watson on January 24th, 2006

Susie and Barb chat with a chatterbot created by Gregg and play with Pandorabots to see how sophisticated the technology has become. They have been programmed to flatter the user, and believe in God, which works in the real world so why not here? Susie criticizes their grammar, fake faith, and shallow grasp of knowledge. Challenge us - do you have or know of a more intelligent bot out there for a nice chat?

PodcasterCon 2006

by Susie Watson on January 17th, 2006

Barb attends PodcasterCon 2006 (http://www.podcastercon.org) in North Carolina, so Susie interviews her to get the lowdown. Barb met fellow casters and participated in a discussion about women in podcasting. Or the lack of them, since only 9% are female. Some things never change.

Minimalism vs Overproduction - Less is More

by Susie Watson on January 12th, 2006

In an age when absolutely everything is technologically possible, all of pop culture exhibits examples of lavish production simply because it has become so easy. Susie sees a welcome reversal of this trend growing in art, movies, TV, the web, music, architecture, fashion, and photography, where we go back to the root idea, the singular powerful expression that trumps overproduction every time. The girls give examples in every corner of pop culture that bear out this idea.

Music: “Yes” by Morphine from the album “Yes.” - only a sampling since the music is RIAA protected. (too bad)
