The Secret Origin of Pop! Goes the Culture
Way back in 2016, Kevin Smith held court at Planet Comicon in Kansas City. Joey and co-founder of PGtC, Kenny Wright (K-dub) were in attendance as Smith made the statements in the video above. That planted the seed of what would grow over the next year and a half into Pop! Goes the Culture. Appropriately enough, PGtC has hosted programming at Planet Comicon beginning in 2017, including main stage Q&As starting in 2018 — on the same stage where Smith inspired us just years before. Launched in December 2017, Pop! Goes the Culture hosts a weekly podcast in your favorite audio podcast player and a video podcast on the PGtC YouTube channel. Our format, our hosts, and more have changed over the years, but one thing has held true — we’re here talking what’s new and newsworthy in entertainment & pop culture, sharing interviews with your favorite celebs, and bringing the comic con experience to our listeners, viewers, and readers on this website and across social media.
