Pop Culture Kitchen: Captain America Crunch

Searching for the perfect snack for your 4th of July party? Look no further than our Captain America Crunch!

Ingredients:

  •  1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 8 cups Chex cereal
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • red, white, and blue M&Ms
  • red and blue sprinkles

Instructions:

  1. Put the chocolate chips and butter in a large bowl. You can either melt it  by using a double boiler or by microwaving it. If microwaving, use 30 second intervals (stirring between) at 50% power until mostly melted. For double boiler, place bowl over a pot of simmering water and melt, stirring often. The water should not touch the bowl.
  2. Once the chocolate is mostly melted, stir in the peanut butter and mix until smooth. Let cool
  3. Put about 6 cups of Chex to a large bowl. Pour the chocolate mixture on top, then add two more cups of Chex. gently mix together until all the cereal is coated.
  4. Separate the cereal mixture into two gallon sized seal-able baggies. Add 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar to each bag. Zip it up and give it to the kids to go crazy shaking with.
  5.  Pour into a large bowl and top with M&Ms and sprinkles.

We like to separate ours into small lunch baggies and hand them out to the kids to enjoy while watching fireworks! If you have any favorite 4th of July recipes, list them in the comments!
