Pop Culture Kitchen: Oh, Fudge!

Looking for a fun way to bring your favorite Christmas movie to life? Try our delicious fudge recipe that will will make your A Christmas Story viewing much more entertaining!

You know the scene. The family gets a flat tire on the way home from seeing Santa. Ralphie spills the bolts while helping his dad change a tire and shouts, “Oh, Fudge!” Except he doesn’t say fudge. Ralphie’s mom washes his mouth out with soap for that one. A soap bar shaped fudge that literally says “Oh, Fudge” brings all the best parts of this scene to life in your home!

Ingredients:

  • 2 2/3 cups white chocolate chips
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 ouces)
  • pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • red and pink food coloring
  • Press in letters

Instructions

  1. In a large, microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate and sweetened condensed milk. Microwave at 70 percent power for 90 seconds. Stir well, using the residual heat to full melt the chocolate until the mixture is very smooth.
  2. Alternatively, you can set the bowl over a saucepan of simmering water (making sure the bottom of the bowl doesn’t touch the water) on the stove-top.
  3. Add the salt, vanilla extract, and food coloring. I did several drops of pink and one drop of red. Stir well.
  4. Pour into Any plastic, rectangular container chill for 2 hours.
  5. Overturn the fudge onto a baking tray lined with wax or parchment paper and cut to desired “soap bar” shape. Use stone stamps to write “Oh Fudge” on the bars. Return to the refrigerator to chill until serving.
