Ponyo is my very favorite Studio Ghibli film so I knew I had to include it this week. Thee kids love ramen and I love Ponyo, Bam… we have a winner!
Ponyo Ramen
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1/2 diced onion
- 2 cloves diced garlic
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- 4 cups Chicken Stock
- 1 box of Japanese Style Ramen Noodles
- two thinly sliced green onions
- four eggs
- deli sliced ham
Directions:
- Fill a small saucepan 3/4 full with water and bring to a boil. Add your four eggs and cook to desired doneness. ( 3min=soft boiled, 5min=medium boiled, 7min= hard boiled) Remove eggs from boiling water and immediately place into an ice bath to stop cooking.
- In a small saucepan, heat olive oil and sauté onion for two minutes. Add garlic and sauté for 1 more minute before adding chicken stock and bringing to a boil. Add ginger and soy sauce.
- Add Ramen noodles and let boil for 3 minutes.
- Place ham slices in a frying pan and cook at a medium heat for about a minute.
- Separate ramen into four bowls and top with ham, egg, and green onion.
- Don’t even bother resisting the urge to yell “HAM!” before you take a bite. Just do it.
(Side note: I felt a little bit weird about putting ham in ramen, but don’t let it scare you. IT WAS DELICIOUS!)
