This year, Friday the 13th is smack-dab in the middle of spooky season! Make this Jason themed desert to celebrate!
For the cookies:
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter room temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 3 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Cream together the butter and sugar.
- Add in vanilla and egg. Mix until combined.
- Add flour and baking powder to the bowl. Mix slowly at first gradually getting faster until the dough comes together.
- Turn out onto a floured surface. Use a rolling pin and roll until about 1/4 inch thick.
- You can either use a cookie cutter, or hand cut the mask shapes. I used a Halloween sugar skill cookie cutter to get the Jason mask shape. Transfer the cookies to a parchment lined cookie sheet.
- Bake at 350° for 6-8 minutes.
For the icing:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup corn syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp almond extract
- pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Add all ingredients into a large bowl and mix with a hand mixer until throughly combined. Add powdered sugar if needed for desired thickness.
- Fully frost each cookie with icing.
- Using a tube of each black and red gel icing, create the mask pattern on each cookie. Use this photo as a guide.
• Allow icing to harden before serving.
