Weekend Plans for Friday, April 22nd through Sunday, April 24th 2022

Looking for something to do this weekend? Check out a few of these options.

In Theaters

We’ve had an incredible run of original films in theaters this month, and that continues with a pair of offerings this weekend. First up is The Northman, from director Robert Eggers and starring Alexander Skarsgard, Anya Taylor-Joy, Bjork, Willem Dafoe, Nicole Kidman, and Ethan Hawke.

Also new in theaters this weekend is The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, starring Nicholas Cage as Nic Cage and co-starring Pedro Pascal, and Lily Mo Sheen. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate our upcoming Cage Match championship than by heading out to a theater to catch this one!

Finally, if you’re looking for more family-friendly fare, The Bad Guys opens in theaters this weekend as well.

TV/Streaming

Things pick up Sunday night with the season 3 premiere of Barry (HBO Max) and series premieres of Billy the Kid (Epix) and The Man Who Fell to Earth (Showtime).

Conventions

You can find the Pop Goes the Culture podcast crew on the road in Kansas City, Missouri this weekend at Planet Comicon. We will be hosting some of our own panels, moderating creator guest panels with the likes of John Romita Jr., James Tynion IV, Jason Aaron, Freddie Williams II, Cullen Bunn, and more, and on the celebrity stage with Steve Downes and with the voice actors of the animated Justice League series. Come on out and join us!

If you’re not in the area, you can check out a convention near you from the list below:
