Funko Friday: Get Home For Thanksgiving With ‘Planes, Trains, & Automobiles: The Game’

Halloween is behind us. Christmas is right around the corner. Both of those holidays have a ton of specials, songs, movies, and more. Right between the two lies Thanksgiving. There are only a handful of pieces of entertainment that go along with turkey day like cranberry sauce and stuffing — there’s Peppermint Patty inviting everyone over to Chuck’s house for dinner and there’s the shenanigans of Neal and Del trying to get to Chicago in the 1987 John Hughes-directed holiday classic Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. The latter has been adapted by our friends at Funko Games into the perfect Thanksgiving game, appropriately titled Planes, Trains, and Automobiles: The Game.

In this 2-player cooperative card game, players work together to get to Chicago for Thanksgiving. Included in the box are 32 Journey Cards, 16 Challenge Cards, a Transit Card, a Destination Card, a Mileage Marker, a Shower Curtain Ring, and the instructions. The game is recommended for players 12 and up. Average gameplay takes around 20 minutes.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles: The Game is a ton of fun for two players. As challenge cards are revealed, each player uses cards from their journey deck to meet the challenge. Some challenges allow players to communicate with one another. Others don’t allow for communication. Meeting the challenges allows the players to get closer to reaching their goal of making it to Chicago in time for Thanksgiving as they move the Mileage Marker around the mileage marks on the game box. Even the shower curtain ring comes into play, adding a dexterity element to the game as players spin and slide the shower curtain ring around based on the challenges drawn.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles: The Game makes the perfect distraction while waiting on Thanksgiving dinner to cook or for playing after dinner when everyone else is asleep on the couch with the football game on. Pick up your copy of Planes, Trains, and Automobiles: The Game online today so you have it in time for the holiday at an MSRP of $8.99.
